TAP is a nonprofit Labor-Management service provided to members of participating Teamster, ILWU, and IATSE health and welfare plans. TAP was developed through Teamsters Joint Council 7 with a mandate to provide assistance to the members and their families with alcohol and drug related job and personal problems.
TAP is open M-F 8am-5pm.

Services

TAP offers ongoing services for
individual members, continuing care,
and organizational services

Individual Members

  • Confidential face-to-face assessment and referral
  • Coordination of admission with preferred providers, HMOs, and managed care
  • Site visits while in treatment
  • Care management through course of treatment
  • Post treatment/return to work meeting
  • Monthly follow-up for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Information and referral for mental health, family, and other personal problems

Continuing Care / Relapse Prevention

  • Ten (10) weekly continuing care meetings
  • Sobriety-related social events

Organizational Services

  • On-site Local Union and Employer visits by TAP staff
  • Seminars for Union members and employers
  • Business Agent, Shop Steward, and Supervisor training
  • DOT Alcohol and Drug Training
  • Union and Employer consultation
  • Ongoing provider evaluations and site visits
  • Preferred provider rates negotiated
  • Trust Fund Reports
